“There is such a country; it is called Georgia” is the first CD of the ensemble Mgzavruli and presents the vibrant and often haunting melodies of the ancient culture of Georgia.

The CD is available for $16.00 from Dancing Crane Georgian Music and Dance, 9 Dekay Road, Warwick, NY 10990; cd@gmail.com.

The Georgian musical tradition has evolved during thousands of years and draws from secular and liturgical harmonies, dances and ballads, regional and national themes. Although of an ancient tradition, Georgian music speaks directly to modern American sensibilities. This is why Mgzavruli has offered this collection of songs to their adopted country of America.

The Georgian music ensemble Mgzavruli was formed as part of Dancing Crane Georgian Music and Dance in New York State.  Professional artists from the country of Georgia who are resident in the United States have gathered together to continue their traditional arts. They have learned their arts since childhood in the context of transmission from family and professional musicians as well as with conservatory training.
